Free to run. Yours to keep.
The platform is MIT licensed and every module in the catalogue today is free. Two things are on the way, and neither of them takes anything away from that.
Self-hosted
Free
forever, and that is the whole price
Your machine, your database, your backups. Every module in the catalogue, no limits of any kind.
Managed hosting
Coming soon
not open yet, and not taking sign-ups
We run the machine, the database, the backups and the upgrades, and you administer a site instead of a server. It is not open yet and there is nothing to join; when it is, it will be announced here and in the repository.
Paid modules and themes
Coming soon
every module that ships today is free
The marketplace will carry paid modules and themes alongside the free ones, from us and from other authors. The format a module ships in is already stable, so nothing written today is wasted.
In the free version, which is all of it today
- 91 modules
- Every payment gateway
- Every sign-in provider
- Themes and the theme editor
- Roles and permissions
- Two languages
- The REST API and API keys
- Backup and restore
About the paid parts
Will the open source version lose features when the paid ones arrive?
No. The platform and every module that ships with it today are MIT licensed, and a licence cannot be taken back from a release that already went out. What will be paid is a machine we run for you, and modules written after that decision.
When is managed hosting opening?
There is no date, and we would rather say that than put a month on a page and move it. It is not taking sign-ups, so there is no list to be on and nothing to wait for. Self-hosting is the supported way to run Blysis today and will stay supported after.
How will a paid module be licensed?
Per installation, with a key you paste into the admin panel once. It installs and updates exactly like a free one, and the platform it runs on stays MIT regardless of what is installed on it.
Can I sell a module I wrote?
That is what the marketplace is for. It is not open to outside authors yet. The manifest format, the SDK boundary and the version contract are already stable and documented, so a module written today will install the day it opens.
Do I have to publish a module I write for my own site?
No. MIT does not ask you to publish anything you build on top of it, and a module you upload as a ZIP never leaves your machine. Nothing phones home and there is no account to have.
Is there a licence key or a phone-home check in the free version?
No. There is no key to enter, no activation, no usage report and no limit that stops working if the machine is offline. The marketplace catalogue is fetched from a public URL, and that is the only outbound request the platform makes on its own behalf.
Start with an empty core.
One command, and the site is up. Add what it needs from there.
